In this hands-on, three-week course, you'll learn the essentials of glaze mixing. Over the course of three 2.5-hour sessions, we’ll cover:
Glaze Properties & Terminology: Understanding key terms and the behaviour of glazes.
Ingredients & Their Functions: Learn the roles of fluxes, silica, alumina, colorants, and more.
Mixing Techniques: Create glazes from published recipes and experiment with developing your own.
Troubleshooting Common Glaze Issues: Identify and fix common flaws like pinholing, crawling, and streaking.
Application & Testing: Learn best practices for glaze application and the importance of testing your glazes.
This class is part of a series of technical workshops designed to teach you the behind-the-scenes processes that we typically manage here at LOAM. Whether you’re planning to set up your own home studio or work independently in a shared space, this course will give you the knowledge and confidence to handle your own firings.
