This course offers a deep dive into intaglio printmaking, balancing technical skill development with creative expression. Designed for both beginners and intermediate printmakers, it provides tailored instruction to support various skill levels. Over ten weeks, students will explore three core techniques: drypoint, monotype, and etching (hard and soft ground, aquatint, and viscosity printing). Emphasis will be placed on color experimentation, layering, and innovative mark-making to encourage both beginners and experienced printmakers to push their creative boundaries. A strong focus will be placed on exploring color within intaglio techniques, incorporating multi-plate printing, viscosity inking, and monotype layering to create dynamic and expressive prints. Students will learn how to prepare plates, ink and print using a variety of techniques, and refine their prints through iterative processes. The course accommodates different levels of experience, ensuring all students receive appropriate guidance to develop their skills.
