Step into the world of improv-driven film acting in this unique on-camera course! Over four weeks, participants will collaborate on the creation of a short mockumentary-style film inspired by the comedic, naturalistic style of The Officeand Parks and Recreation. The project will be shot using handheld, documentary-style camerawork, incorporating improvised dialogue within structured, pre-rehearsed scenes. This course will help actors develop authentic, comedic, and natural performances for the camera while learning how to react and stay in the moment within an unscripted framework. Participants will work with direct-to-camera interviews, ensemble scenes, and overlapping dialogue, gaining an understanding of how framing, pacing, and timing enhance a mockumentary performance. They will also gain hands-on experience with blocking and filming scenes to match the distinctive documentary style. Throughout the course, scenes will be filmed and professionally edited into a final short film, which will be provided to each participant—perfect for demo reels, portfolio material, or simply as a keepsake of the experience. With no script, just structured scenarios, strong characters, and creative instincts, this class offers a fun, fast-paced, and immersive way to sharpen on-camera acting skills while creating a hilarious final product. Ready to step into the mockumentary world? There are no prerequisites for this class—whether you' have some exprience or completely new to performing, all are welcome.
