Monday Evenings from 6m -9pm January 8 - February 26 Designed for creative and practical people who want to learn the secrets to repairing, updating and altering their own wardrobe to create a unique style. Create maximum impact with minimal cost! You will learn how to: alter, repair, resize, and update clothing. Through a series of practical sessions, students gain the hands-on training and instruction necessary to make alterations to their own clothes, for family, friends, and potential clients. By the end of this course, students will have the ability to demonstrate knowledge of the different types of stitches, seams, hems, and types of common fabrics and apply taking-up, taking-in, letting-out, shortening, lengthening techniques to ladies and men’s everyday clothing, bridal and formal fashion including pinning, writing down measurements, preparing garments, sewing, hem, altering shoulders and armholes, sleeve shortening on a jacket, and replacing zippers. Prerequisites: Sewing Basics or equivalent Address: 3033 Carling Ave. Unit 204 Supplies fee: $50 Note: The Green Needle will provide sewing machines and Sergers to the students. Students will need to bring their own basic sewing kit to class and practice at home to complete homework (approximately 20 hours). Please review our policies before registering.
